Then I discovered why the ancients composed their hymns, their stotras, their humming with the inner divine, in metered form, with the highs and lows in tune helping with स्पष्ट उच्चार, rather than musicality.
Then I got thinking of the word उच्चार:
उत् - चार इति उच्चार - literally the act of, the behavior of growing, climbing, overcoming.
Then I got thinking of how the Hindu worldview came up with the notion of ' एकोहं बहु स्याम् ' - the divine sprouting itself from itself - but for what ?
Well ... maybe for clearer pronunciation, of not just one or even some but all the sounds, all the letters of the hymn, all the constituent aspects of creation ... ?
Then I thought of this:
आधी होते एकसुरी | मग देण्या अर्थ सर्वत्री |
उपदेशे केले वरी | आणी खालती सारे ||
ऐसा बळावला ब्रह्मराव | माया ब्रह्म आणि भाव |
स्पष्ट उच्चाराची हाव | बळावली जेथे ||
ऐसे केले उच्चनीच | कोणाचा ना कोणा जाच |
संघे संगीताची राच़ | पाडली जैसी ||
